Iron Craft Challenge #4

This challenge was to create something inspired by a movie or the entertainment industry.
I have to say I was stumped with this one. It wasn't till I was flipping through some of my old art the idea came to me.
I didn't take the idea further then the sketch, as I don't know if it would be infringing on copyright laws.
Here is my entry. Can you guess the movie?

Iron Craft #3

This challenge was about hearts and/or flowers. I decided to go with flowers.
I had to get to get some new art together for the next show here at our local art association so I figured I could kill two birds with one stone.
This is something new I am exploring, combining the cut paper with color pencil.
Unfortunately I was in a major rush when I realized I hadn't photographed it!
So I quickly threw it on the scanner framed and all!

Orange you glad...

Sorry bad pun but I just finished my second challenge in the JustCraftyEnough Iron Craft Challenge!
Our theme this time was Orange.
There are some very nice entries so far and I am sure there will be plenty more posted over the next several days.Once again I put myself on a time limit tho this one did take longer than an hour.
Seeing as how the weather has been rather nasty here I wanted to make something cheery that could tag along with me!
So I made this little Orange Flower Pin!

Free Valentine Digi Stamp

I really liked the little girl I created for the 1st Iron Craft and wanted to use it to make a Vaentine card.

I decided to make her a digi stamp, something I could work with quickly and also share with you.

It's funny because even tho I have been doing art and crafts for over 40 years I don't have a lot of those cool supplies and tools that comes with the Stamping Craft. I purposely avoided it in fact! I felt there was so much out there I would get overloaded with materials and feel overwhelmed!

I did recently buy a Silhouette Cameo though because I do love cut paper crafts and this tool would allow me to cut out my own designs!
 Get your Digi Stamp!

Iron Craft Challenge #1

I joined a craft challenge being hosted by
Just Crafty Enough titled Iron Craft Challenge.

Our first challenge was to create something using cotton. It can be anything as long as the majority of it is focused on cotton. It is so wide open it left me pondering which way I want to go with it. I did limit myself to one hour so that I wouldn't get carried away, O because none of us ever do that!

I finally decided to work on this idea, its a bit rough but its a start!

Welcome

I want to share with you the story behind the blog's title.

As children my sister and I would sit in the tall grass under our neighbor's apricot tree, fragrant with blooms. Their yard was in stark contrast with the surrounding prim lawns meticulously kept by the rest of the subdivision, with grass way too long and flowers planted in wild abandon. But it was here that we loved to play. The neighbor never minded our being there, they let us pick the bright red tulips when they came bursting forth and when the apricots were ready we would sit under the tree and enjoy the sweet fruits.
Our neighbor moved after a few short years but the memory they impressed upon me has lasted a lifetime.

So it is my hope that  you will come here while I share the joy of art and artists, the creative mind, the curious, the crafty and occasionally a red tulip or two.
